Born in West Clare in 1976 Turlough Rynne studied Fine Art Printmaking, at Limerick School of Art and Design.
Rynne has gone on to produce etchings, engravings and drawings, which are based on urban landscapes and depictions of the wilds of the West of Ireland. The detail undertaken in his urban landscapes give a sculptural and architectural dynamic to his pictures.
While some works depict immediately recognizable sections of Dublin City, others feature an element of abstraction with his method of layering lines and shading. Any abstraction is also amplified by his way of angling the viewer at particular points of entry into the work. His textured landscapes, etchings and sketches are in contrast romantic and impressionist in style.
Rynne has taken residencies in Ceský Krumlov, Czech Republic
at the Milkwood Artist Residence and in Tallinn, Estonia at The Estonian Artists' Association.
He has been commissioned by Dublin’s Docklands to produce a limited edition etching of 50 prints to commemorate the opening of Sean O'Casey Bridge in Dublin.
His work has been selected on numerous occasions for the Royal Hibernian annual show. And many of his works have been privately collected.
